SPECIAL ACTIVITY WEEK

SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP-OUTS

Most weeks we will have overnight mountain camps from mid-June thru to end of September, weather permitting. This involves a two day ride and one overnight camp-out in wall tent accommodation. Air beds and sleeping bags will be provided by the ranch. Breakfast, packed lunches and supper will also be provided. Ride the range, check cattle and then when the day is done, eat supper swapping stories of the day! The next morning, drink camp coffee and eat breakfast and pack some lunch, then it’s off to catch your horse, check cows on the range and come home to the ranch for supper! This trip is part of the standard ranch package and is recommended for intermediate and advanced riders. Please be aware that there are camp toilet facilities but no shower facilities.

Spring Horse Whispering Clinic

We will have our special horse whispering clinic with Marc Dixon, this is a fun week where our guests get to be involved with training colts and using natural horsemanship skills taught at the ranch. Our guests will get to see firsthand how Marc will start a colt from untouched to being ranch ridden during this special week. All our usual ranch activities will be in place as well as the horse whispering clinic so it is a very busy week for our guests! Additional cost of $400 per guest— please note spaces going fast!!

First Crow Indian Re-enactment Ride and Ranch Week

Guests must arrive on Sunday and will be collected between 1pm and 3pm in Billings with a quick opportunity to shop in the city before heading to the ranch. The rest of the day will be spent settling in and allowing guests to familiarize themselves with the ranch and its amenities. Sunday is spent doing initial horse safety and ranch riding.

Monday the day will include ranch riding.

Tuesday guests will depart early after breakfast from the ranch for the Real Bird Custer two-day ride. Our Native American Crow Indian guides will retrace Custer’s Last footsteps into battle with guests. They will share their Native American perspective on the Battle of The Little Bighorn. Guests will have the opportunity to ride Native American horses. Packed lunch and dinner will be provided for our guests. Overnight camp will be in a Native American Crow teepee. Airbeds and sleeping bags will be provide, we can also provide two man tents if requested.

On Wednesday we will start the day with a camp breakfast and the day will see the second part od our two day ride which will cover approximately 12 miles per day. The ride finishes going through Medicine Tail coulee and crossing the Little Big Horn River. A set lunch after the ride is provided at the Trading Post where guests can shop for souvenirs. We will return to the ranch for supper.

Thursday will be spent ranch riding as per our standard ranch package.

On Friday we will depart from the ranch after breakfast for the Real Bird re-enactment of the Custer battle. A set lunch at the Trading Post and some time to shop is included before the guests are transported to the re-enactment to relive the battle. We will return to the ranch for supper.

Guests will depart on Saturday after breakfast. Price is available on request. We will also give our guests an opportunity after the reenactment to drive thru the Custer Battlefield grounds and visit the museum.

The timing of all rides may vary depending on weather conditions and temperatures and may depart either with an early morning start or later in the evening when the temperatures are more suitable for the safety of our guests and horses. We also need to make aware that it is the ranch owner’s decision when to make changes to a ride and if ground conditions are dangerous for the guests and horses, rides may be canceled. As the Native American rides are pre-planned, no refund is given if ride is canceled due to weather conditions, but we will try to arrange a replacement day ride within the week if possible.
